OLIVE
TREE WOOD
Look closely at these hand-carved pieces in
olive wood.
Look at this fine grain, at this rich color,
and admire the veins, some darker, some golden, some lighter.
They tell the story of the tree they are coming from.
Contorted, creating images of hard times or
sweet periods, growing slowly, so slowly, through the ages.
We must admire and love these trees, their
strength, and their pure beauty. Some of them are more than 1000
years. In Provence, they are protected. If you need to cut an
olive tree, you have to plant a new one. Only the pruning is
authorized. This is the reason why these pieces are so exceptional
These pieces of wood will live if used, overused.
They may show a small crack, which will close after a while,
following the changes of weather.
Remember, wood is a living thing!
Simply wash it with warm water, and liquid
soap if necessary, dry carefully with a tea towel. Do not soak
it in water, and never place it in the dishwasher.
With these simple precautions, it will last
a life time.
